“Global bank messaging network SWIFT is planning a new platform in the next one to two years to connect the wave of central bank digital currencies now in development to the existing finance system, it has told Reuters.
The move, which would be one of the most significant yet for the nascent CBDC ecosystem given SWIFT's key role in global banking, is likely to be fine-tuned to when the first major ones are launched.
Around 90% of the world's central banks are now exploring digital versions of their currencies. Most don't want to be left behind by bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, but are grappling with technological complexities.
SWIFT's head of innovation, Nick Kerigan, said its latest trial, which took 6 months and involved a 38-member group of central banks, commercial banks and settlement platforms, had been one of the largest global collaborations on CBDCs and ‘tokenized’ assets to date.
It focused on ensuring different countries' CBDCs can all be used together even if built on different underlying technologies, or ‘protocols,’ thereby reducing payment system fragmentation risks.”

So now, the biggest of the big guns, the SWIFT banking system, is now fast-tracking its ability to be the aggregator for ALL the central bank digital currencies around the world…
“For convenience…”
Sure… but for whom?
For context, the SWIFT system is what makes cross-border transactions go:
As of 2018, around half of all high-value cross-border payments worldwide used the Swift network, and in 2015, Swift linked more than 11,000 financial institutions in over 200 countries and territories, who were exchanging an average of over 32 million messages per day (compared to an average of 2.4 million daily messages in 1995)
This gives it significant power over what happens with finance, and with your daily life…
Then, there’s this:
It focused on ensuring different countries' CBDCs can all be used together even if built on different underlying technologies, or ‘protocols,’ thereby reducing payment system fragmentation risks.
We STRONGLY encourage you to get yourself up to speed on #CBDCs and begin preparing parallel economies ASAP.

“Portugal’s data authority announced Tuesday the temporary suspension of cryptocurrency project Worldcoin, citing concerns over data protection for minors in the iris-scanning platform set up by OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman.
Worldcoin began operating last year and provides users with a private digital identity a ‘World ID’ after they get their eye’s unique iris pattern scanned.
The project, according to its founders, aims to solve one of the main challenges facing the crypto industry which largely relies on pseudonyms to operate, leaving it vulnerable to spam bots and scams.
Portugal’s National Data Protection Commission justified its decision, stating it was ‘safeguarding the fundamental right to data protection, in particular of minors,’ it said in a press release.
The CNPD said it had received dozens of complaints from parents about Worldcoin collecting data from their children without their consent.
According to local press reports, the CNPD said that more than 300,000 people in Portugal had already provided their biometric data in exchange for payment in Worldcoin cryptocurrency.
It comes just three weeks after Spain’s data protection agency, AEPD, ordered the company to suspend its activities after receiving several complaints over the collection of data from minors and the fact that withdrawing consent is not allowed.
THINGS TO PONDER:
Collecting iris scans for “crypto” with no way to withdraw consent AND stalking kids without permission?
Sounds quite noble, Sam Altman (cue sarcasm)!
Loyal readers of Ripped From The Headlines, and our sister publication, We Are The Watchmen Weekly are well aware of WorldCoin and understand the danger of its ultimate goal:
To share information freely with governments for any reason.
Sounds scary, doesn’t it?
It should… if you take this story and the one directly above it, you begin to see a pattern… that involves monitoring and controlling every aspect of your life.
As we shared in the August 2, 2023 edition of Ripped From The Headlines:
This is what’s been happening behind the scenes, which represents the steps towards the loss of basic freedoms… economic, social, and personal…
“For your safety.”
It sounds great until you realize the real goal… which is something like a universal basic income, because “AI is going to do everything, and it will combat inequality…”
While someone like Sam Altman controls the process and the cryptocurrency because he will do the government’s bidding.
We encourage you to read our “When Liars Conspire” feature, to better understand how your government is weaponized against you.

“The home insurance market is crumbling in New Orleans, leaving Alfredo Herrera with few options for coverage — and skyrocketing insurance premiums.
Herrera, 35, works in finance for a local bank. He bought his 900-square-foot home in New Orleans’ Mid-City neighborhood in 2020 for $270,000 and lives there with his partner.
In 2022, he paid $1,600 a year for home insurance. But last July, his insurer canceled his coverage, saying it was leaving Louisiana.
Herrera shopped around for a new plan, but he struggled to find a policy. Louisiana Citizens, the insurer of last resort for property owners in the state, was out of the question. It would have cost more than $7,000 annually.
Herrera eventually found a policy with a small company in the state that charged him $4,930 annually — a 208% increase from what he paid in 2022.
‘It’s a very difficult situation,’ he said. He never imagined that when he bought his home, private insurance options would be this limited and the last resort insurer would be so expensive.
‘We’re against the wall,’ Herrera said. ‘There’s no competition.’”
THINGS TO PONDER:
We’re free-market capitalism fans here at Ripped From The Headlines, so to see the comment that “there’s no competition” gives us pause…
Oddly enough, the same thing happened in Florida last year… and it’s SUPER difficult to get insurance…
Why are insurers pulling out?
CNN & others believe it’s “climate change” - but there’s more to the story…
Insurers aren’t really in the business of insuring you… they are in the risk mitigation business.
That means they are seeing something that’s so bad… in multiple states… that they are simply pulling out.
Why are they doing that?
THAT is the right question.
