The NYPD is welcoming a new member to its ranks: a robot dog. The robotic mobile K-9 device is part of a number of technological rollouts the city said is ‘crucial’ in keeping the city safe.
Mayor Eric Adams joined NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell and other police leadership Tuesday morning for a demonstration of three new pieces of technology that the department is planning to utilize as part of an overall plan to use new, innovative technologies to increase officers and resident safety.
‘To safeguard our modern city in a forward-looking world, it is essential that out officers are equipped with the tools, training and technology necessary to do that job safely and effectively," Sewell said in a Tuesday morning press conference in Times Square. ‘Throughout its history our department has leveraged the latest available technology and pioneered ways to do our work.’
Opposition to the implementation of the new technology was quick as The Legal Aid Society released a statement in response to an announcement from Adams and the NYPD on the deployment of what the non-profit called ‘new dystopian technologies to surveil New Yorkers.’
‘Mayor Adams continues to pour money into the NYPD’s bloated budget, enabling police to impose new, dystopian surveillance technologies throughout the city without meaningfully engaging New Yorkers in a conversation about whether this is how we want to live,’ the Legal Aid Society's statement said.”
“A criminology professor at Florida State University suddenly left his $190,000-a-year position after being accused of fudging data to make racism seem more common.
Eric Stewart has had six of his studies - one of which dates as far back as 2006 - retracted amid allegations that he fabricated data by altering sample sizes.
Stewart has denied such criticisms but after the sixth incident in 2020 an FSU committee reconvened to address his record and findings.
Since last month, the professor has been absent, perhaps marking the end of his 16-year career at the school and a years-long investigation into his academic malpractice, the Florida Standard reported.
In 2011 Stewart co-authored a study that claimed to demonstrate that as black and Hispanic populations grew, the public increasingly demanded longer sentences for black and Hispanic criminals.
The study was intended to test whether the public held prejudicial views toward minority groups and whether that affected sentencing.
Stewart was eventually called out by a peer, Justin Pickett, another criminologist at the University of Albany with whom he had co-authored that paper.
Pickett notes that the original, untampered data, showed that there was no relationship between the growth of minority groups and the severity of criminal sentences handed to them.
He published his own paper pointing out issues in their joint paper, some of which he said were introduced just before publication.
'The data were also altered - intentionally or unintentionally - in other ways, and those alterations produced the article's main findings,' Pickett wrote.”
”Low-income countries will face their biggest bills for servicing foreign debts in a quarter of a century this year, putting spending on health and education at risk.
Repayments on public debt owed to non-residents for a group of 91 of the world’s poorest countries will take up an average of more than 16 percent of government revenues in 2023, rising to almost 17 percent next year, according to a study by debt campaign group Debt Justice that is due to be published on Tuesday.
The figures — the highest since 1998 — follow a steep rise in global borrowing costs last year, when central banks sought to counter high inflation with rapid rate rises.
For many of the 91 countries, which are classified as low and lower-middle income by the World Bank, repayments on domestic debt, borrowed from lenders inside the country, make the burden of debt service overall much greater still, according to separate data from the IMF.
Heidi Chow, executive director of Debt Justice, said debt repayments today were again reaching ‘crisis’ levels for many governments, hindering [their ability] to provide public services, fight the climate crisis and respond to economic turmoil”.
“Wacked Out” Wednesday, Ripped From The Headlines. Things To Ponder:
“Nothing To Worry About, Our Dystopian Robot Dogs Won’t Kill You… Yet.”
That’s the city of New York, with its message to you after they officially launched their new surveillance system… To “Keep you Safe.”
Sure, whatever you say, Mayor Adams.
Here’s the reality:
“Robotic Dogs” are just the start…
They will figure out how efficiently they can make them work, then order “advanced models that can do even more.”
That type of thing leads to this type of thing:
And, It’s not the only thing they’re launching:
One, made by Starchase, allows police to fire at a fleeing vehicle with a GPS device that can stick to the license plate or trunk, eliminating the need for a high-speed chase.
The second is a 400-pound robot that looks like something out of “Star Wars” and will patrol Times Square this summer, either on the street or in the subway station. Crime victims, for instance, can make use of the robot, speaking to it, with the message relayed to police in real-time.
Yikes. Know. Your. Foe.
“My Research Is The Best! I Lied About It Myself!”
Congrats, Eric Stewart. You’ll now be the butt of jokes for years…
Here’s what’s not funny though…
Stewart is overpaid, entitled, an “expert,” and morally bankrupt.
So much so, he had to skew his own research to push his narrative…
Oh, and he had FIVE PRIOR INCIDENTS of issues with his research…
And still had a job!
But he didn’t count on getting caught, thanks to his latest research cohort.
These types of issues, sadly, are everywhere… and somehow, people like Eric Stewart are allowed to roam free.
And with our media using this “insight” to sway the people through a narrative that simply is not true, but it’s the one they want, and want you to believe.
We doubt this is the last time we’ll see a story like this one…
Pay attention to everything.
“Dear Poor Country, We’ll Set You Up To Fail So We Can Take Control… But Don’t Worry, You’ll Just Be Poorer!”
The IMF and the World Bank keep running the same scam over and over, and countries just keep going along with it…
Here’s the IMF hustle:
a. Position a nation for bankruptcy;
b. IMF comes in and says they need “help” via a loan;
c. Nation has to put up “collateral” (assets) “just in case”;
d. But that debt can be “wiped away” if they “institute a little ESG…”
What. The. Fudruckers.
This is actually a super scary new way to get control of countries and their natural resources… and force ESG compliance at the same time…
See, it’s not really about giving a poor country a loan… it’s about control.
Just like a roach motel… “they check in, but they don’t check out!”
Know. Your. Foe.
What does this mean?
Things going back to normal is next to impossible at this point.
Sometimes, you just have to say it.
In a call recently, we had this conversation.
Having never talked with this person before, they came to the same exact conclusion we did when we posed the question about what will happen with the economy.
This won’t be like before when one sector of the economy tanked…
What happens when nearly all sectors of the economy tank?
Nothing good.
Why should I care?
There’s so much to unpack…
Your wealth…
Your legacy…
Anything you plan to leave for future generations…
Getting the basics to live…
All of these things are teetering on the edge.
You should REALLY care.
What should I do?
Take a moment… right now if you can… to take inventory of what you’re seeing in this newsletter each day.
Have you ever seen a time quite like this?
Ok good, you’re paying attention. That’s the point.
If you’re not paying attention and trapped in the hustle and bustle of a busy world (with a ton of useless stuff, by the way), this stuff will come up on you like a thief in the night.
You need to take the time to prepare as best you can for a time when good supplies, strong communities, and strong connections are the difference between surviving and thriving or being in bad shape.
