“The battle against inflation is not over.
As of July, 61% of adults still said they are living paycheck to paycheck, according to a new LendingClub report, slightly more than last year’s 59%.
Yet, recent releases show that, at least compared with the soaring inflation of a year ago, consumers who have been squeezed by higher prices should be experiencing some relief. June and July both saw easing in the pace of price increases, with core inflation up 0.2% for each month, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
But in recent remarks, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said inflation ‘remains too high’ despite those positive indicators, and warned that more interest rate hikes are still possible.
Central bank officials have already raised rates 11 times, pushing the Fed’s key interest rate to a target range of 5.25% to 5.5%, the highest level in more than 22 years.
Already, four out of five consumers’ spending habits have been affected by inflation, according to TD Bank’s annual consumer spending index.
‘Consumers are undoubtedly continuing to feel the impact of inflation and rising interest rates,’” said Chris Fred, TD Bank’s head of credit cards and unsecured lending.
THINGS TO PONDER:
In the “thriving US economy,” the hits just keep on coming….
Regular readers of Ripped From The Headlines know what’s happening, but this issue, combined with the others, is feeding a larger crumbling of US infrastructure.
Have you noticed that everything is dirter, less well kept, porition sizes are smaller, and getting things takes forever?
“If you like your Biden administration, you can keep your Biden adminstration…”
If the issues with everything and more people living paycheck-to-paycheck isn’t enough, the thought that the money coming for the “infrastructure bill” is going to help at all with actual infrastructure, is a fool’s errand at best…
That money is going straight to the grifters!
Expect the bumpy ride to continue.
Brace For Impact.

“X, the social network that used to be known as Twitter, updated its privacy policy to include a new kind of user data it plans to collect: biometric.
‘Based on your consent, we may collect and use your biometric information for safety, security, and identification purposes,’ the company said in its new policy. X doesn’t define what it considers biometric, though other companies have used the term to describe data gleaned from a person’s face, eyes and fingerprints.
A representative of San Francisco-based X confirmed the new policy change, but didn’t elaborate further.
Social media companies have long drawn criticism from users and regulators around the world for the information they gather and how they use that data, including the sale of advertising tailored to a person’s interests and search histories.
It’s unclear how X will collect the biometric data or how it may be used. Elon Musk, who bought Twitter last year, has said one of his priorities is to rid the site of inauthentic accounts, and push more users toward using a service that applies a blue check mark, indicating the user has paid $8 a month and is more likely to be human.
After the policy update, Musk announced X users will be able to make video and audio calls through the platform without having to share their phone number, in the latest expansion of services as he seeks to create an ‘everything app.’”
THINGS TO PONDER:
We’d like to take a moment to remind you who Elon Musk is:
“Let Me Into Your Brain… What Could Go Wrong?”
Based on your track record with Neuralink Mr. Musk, A LOT.
But the FDA doesn’t seem to care much about that…
These days, you can put monkeys into psychotic episodes, and that will get you clearance to run tests on humans…
The US Government is amazing, isn’t it?
For the record, here’s what we shared with you in the December 2nd edition of Ripped From The Headlines:
ELON MUSK WANTS TO PUT CHIPS IN YOUR BRAIN
Let that sink in for a sec…
While you’re being distracted (Twitter), Elon isn’t.

“Those attending outdoor parties or barbecues in New York City this weekend may notice an uninvited guest looming over their festivities: a police surveillance drone.
The New York City police department plans to pilot the unmanned aircrafts in response to complaints about large gatherings, including private events, over Labor Day weekend, officials announced Thursday.
‘If a caller states there’s a large crowd, a large party in a backyard, we’re going to be utilizing our assets to go up and go check on the party,’ Kaz Daughtry, the assistant NYPD Commissioner, said at a press conference.
The plan drew immediate backlash from privacy and civil liberties advocates, raising questions about whether such drone use violated existing laws for police surveillance.
‘It’s a troubling announcement and it flies in the face of the POST Act,’ said Daniel Schwarz, a privacy and technology strategist at the New York Civil Liberties Union, referring to a 2020 city law that requires the NYPD to disclose its surveillance tactics. ‘Deploying drones in this way is a sci-fi inspired scenario.’
Mayor Eric Adams, a former police captain, has said he wants to see police further embrace the ‘endless’ potential of drones, citing Israel’s use of the technology as a blueprint after visiting the country last week.
THINGS TO PONDER:
It appears that the solution to bad leadership… is a survallance state.
How fitting for NYC, right?
Eric Adams puts the cherry on the sundae of turning NYC into a moden “Escape From New York” movie, and the best that he can come up with is the endless potential of drones…
To be in every facet of your private business.
Oh… you thought it was just going to be for Labor Day parties?
Here’s what Adams has been up to:
Like many cities, New York is increasingly relying on drones for policing purposes. Data maintained by the city shows the police department has used drones for public safety or emergency purposes 124 times this year, up from just four times in all of 2022. They were spotted in the skies after a parking garage collapse earlier this year and when a giveaway event devolved into teenage mayhem.
