“The Senate easily passed a more than $1.7 trillion government funding bill that includes more aid for Ukraine and changes to the way presidential elections are counted.
Passage of the bill funneling $47 billion toward the effort to help Ukraine’s defense against Russia came a day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy addressed the US Congress in his first trip outside his war-torn homeland since the invasion began. The measure adds to the more than $65 billion already appropriated this year to address the conflict.
‘Now is not the time to take our foot off the gas when it comes to helping Ukraine. The single worst thing we can do right now is give Putin any signal that we are wavering in our commitment to defend democracy in Ukraine and around the globe,’ Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said on the Senate floor Wednesday.”
“Egg prices are hitting records, driven by an avian-influenza outbreak that has killed tens of millions of chickens and turkeys this year across nearly all 50 states.
Wholesale prices of Midwest large eggs hit a record $5.36 a dozen in December, according to the research firm Urner Barry. Retail egg prices have increased more than any other supermarket item so far this year, climbing more than 30% from January to early December compared with the same period a year earlier, and outpacing overall food and beverage prices, according to the data firm Information Resources Inc.
Cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza have so far this year led to the deaths of about 58 million birds, the deadliest outbreak in U.S. history, according to Agriculture Department data. Entire poultry flocks are destroyed after an infection is confirmed, to help limit the outbreak’s spread.”
“Philadelphia has seen a dramatic rise in homicides since 2018, with the crisis accelerating out of control in 2020 and continuing now into 2023. Though homicide rates have spiked across the board in America’s cities, Philadelphia’s crime spike has made it the most dangerous city among those with more than 1 million residents.
Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw stated that violence remains at ‘unacceptable’ levels, though she to the seven percent reduction as an accomplishment during a press conference on Tuesday. Outlaw — who previously served as top law enforcement official in Portland, Oregon — also pointed to a slight uptick in the number of solved gun cases as another glimmer of hope.
Critics have blamed the policies of Soros-backed District Attorney Larry Krasner, who took office in 2018. Krasner has become notorious for light sentencing deals and elimination of bail for numerous crimes that has led to several violent felons being placed back on the streets only to kill again.”
“Know Your Foe” Thursday, Ripped From The Headlines. Things To Ponder:
Let’s Meet Your Enemies In The Senate!
No need to pull punches…
The US Senate passed the $1.65 Trillion (or 1.7 Trillion, or whatever they want because we let them) omnibus bill, 68 for, 29 against.
Let’s meet the 18 Republican Senators who voted for it, and what some others did (Hat Tip To The Daily Signal):
Voted Yes:
Roy Blunt, Missouri - John Boozman, Arkansas - Shelley Moore Capito, West Virginia - Susan Collins, Maine - John Cornyn, Texas - Tom Cotton, Arkansas(!) - Lindsey Graham, South Carolina - Jim Inhofe, Oklahoma - Mitch McConnell, Kentucky - Jerry Moran, Kansas - Lisa Murkowski, Alaska - Rob Portman, Ohio - Mitt Romney, Utah - Mike Rounds, South Dakota - Richard Shelby, Alabama - John Thune, South Dakota - Roger Wicker, Mississippi - Todd Young, Indiana
Three Republicans who did not vote:
John Barasso, Wyoming
Richard Burr, North Carolina
Kevin Cramer, North Dakota
Four Republicans who had previously voted to advance the bill, but switched their votes to oppose it:
Tommy Tuberville, Alabama
Marco Rubio, Florida
Chuck Grassley, Iowa
Cindy Hyde-Smith, Mississippi
Now you know the cost to flip a Senator.
We Hope You Don’t Like Eggs…
Yeah… they are SUPER expensive.
But, we knew this was coming… about two months ago.
Do yourself a favor, find that neighbor who has chickens… and get eggs from them. Support their labor and know where it came from.
If you’re that chicken neighbor?
Tell your neighbors to get on it and make some money!!!
The Fighting City of Philly… For Real
No offense to our readers and friends in Philly… but Jesus!
That’s a lot of activity. We were actually there on a tour in June of this year… and had to get to the airport super early in the morning…
And took a wrong turn…
We can attest to how 500 homicides are possible in Philly.
Here’s the kicker… that’s spreading all over the US.
YIKES.
What Does This Mean?
Your government is out of control and blatantly violates the will of the people…
You won’t be able to afford to eat soon, sans a Parallel Economy…
The US is turning into a combination of Mad Max & The Hunger Games…
What do YOU think that all means for you?
Why should I care?
Being able to…
Eat…
Travel…
Defend Yourself…
May all get REALLY tough to do…
Everything IS NOT fine.
You should care.
What Should I Do?
Get a plan together, ASAP.
Spiritual, Financial, Community, Contingency.
It feels like a dark cloud, but if you’re prepared, you can help to turn things around and help people to recover.
But you have to be here and functioning to do that.
We’ll say the same thing to you that we say to ourselves every day:
Millions of people are counting on you. Get to it!
