The U.S. could become unable to pay all of its bills on time sometime between July and September, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated, giving lawmakers several months to reach an agreement on lifting the debt limit and avoiding a default.
The Treasury Department ran up against the roughly $31.4 trillion debt limit in January. It is now deploying a series of special accounting maneuvers to keep paying the government’s obligations to bondholders, Social Security recipients and others.
In its estimate on Wednesday, the CBO said the so-called extraordinary measures could also run out before July if its expectations for tax revenue are off.
'The projected exhaustion date is uncertain because the timing and amount of revenue collections and outlays over the intervening months could differ from CBO’s projections,'” the agency said."
Elon Musk wants to put a computer chip in your brain. Well, maybe not in your brain, but in the brain of some human somewhere.
Musk's neurotech startup, Neuralink, has been working toward implanting its skull-embedded brain chip in a human since it was founded in 2016. After years of testing on animal subjects, Musk announced in December that the company planned to initiate human trials within six months (though this wasn't the first time he'd said these trials were on the horizon).
Neuralink has spent over half a decade figuring out how to translate brain signals into digital outputs — imagine being able to move a cursor, send a text message, or type in a word processor with just a thought. While the initial focus is on medical use cases, such as helping paralyzed people communicate, Musk has aspired to take Neuralink's chips mainstream — to, as he's said, put a 'Fitbit in your skull.'
But there's reason to be cautious. After all, if it's easy to get addicted to your phone, just think how much more addicting it could be if it were wired directly into your brain.
Gilbert told me about one patient he had interviewed who developed a kind of decision paralysis, eventually feeling as if they couldn't go out or decide what to eat without first consulting the device that showed what was going on in their brain. 'There is nothing wrong with having a device that is completing a decision," Gilbert said, "but at the end, the device was kind of supplanting the person in the decision, kicking them out of the loop.'"
Kraft Heinz (KHC.O) said on Wednesday it would hit pause on further price hikes for its quick-fix meals and condiments, as consumers turn increasingly sensitive to persistently high inflation.
The packaged food giant also forecast 2023 profit below Wall Street estimates, weighed down by more promotions and higher costs of commodities including dairy, soybean, oils and packaging materials.
Kraft's move mirrors PepsiCo Inc (PEP.O) that last week said it would not raise prices any further, expecting some consumer pushback in the second half of the year.
But Coca-Cola Co (KO.N), Dove Soap maker Unilever PLC (ULVR.L) and Procter & Gamble Co (PG.N) have said they would keep hiking prices, showing the diverging paths consumer goods companies are taking to boost sales.
'Consumers are looking for convenient, filling, and nutritious meals, while at the same time paying more attention to the price tag,' Kraft's chief executive Miguel Patricio said, adding the company would halt fresh price hikes in North America, Europe, Latin America and most of Asia.'"
“Brain-Chip” Wednesday, Ripped From The Headlines. Things To Ponder:
“We’re Just Letting You Know We’ll Probably Default… So You’ll Forget Until Later…”
Your elected public servants, and their minions, at work.
It looks like they are telling you that they will default on their overspending… if you don’t let them spend more.
You know what that is, right?
This entire thing is a circus… and apparently, the answer to gross mismanagement… is even more gross mismanagement…
Here’s what you have to look forward to:
More posturing from all sides, wasting your tax dollars;
Backroom deals being cut to grifters can get paid;
A good chance of a “last second” deal to “keep us afloat”;
And you footing the bill… that never seems to get paid.
But hey, according to these guys, everything is fine!
It’s not. Know. Your. Foe.
“But It’s a LOVING Brain Chip…”
Sure it is.
Are you an Elon Musk fan? Kind of hard to reconcile this one, right?
But just think… you wouldn’t have to type it… you could just think about it and it happens!
And everyone who tracks your brain activity knows it.
We know… “they are already tracking us anyway…”
True, but you don’t want them logged into your brain:
Yeah… no thanks.
Here’s what we shared in the December 2nd, 2022 edition of Ripped From The Headlines, which you can read by Clicking Here:
“ELON MUSK WANTS TO PUT CHIPS IN YOUR BRAIN
Let that sink in for a sec…
While you’re being distracted (Twitter), Elon isn’t.
Did you see the video with the monkey? Click Here to take a look.
He won’t stop… your brain is the next target… “for better humans.”
Know. Your. Foe. No matter how “good” you think they might be.
“We’re Not Raising Prices Anymore! So We Can Do It Later…”
Slick move, Kraft-Heinz… slick move.
It will win the company some brownie points in the short term… it will also get them off the hook with many consumers…
So they can raise prices a little at a time down the road and make up for not doing it now.
It’s the “Frog In The Pot” scenario.
Don’t fall for it. Be Vigilant!
What Does This Mean?
Erasing your status as a normal person with a family who is trying to do better, and turning you into a slave/serf class is being flaunted in your face by people that we, as a people, allow to take on and remain in positions of power.
Soon, it will go from flaunting to actively doing… whether you agree/consent or not.
Why Should I Care?
Have you seen (the names are clickable):
Watch them.
You Should Care.
What Should I Do?
We shared these things last week. Given the headlines shared today, we believe they are worth sharing again:
Take a moment… right now if you can… to take inventory of what you’re seeing in this newsletter each day.
Have you ever seen a time quite like this?
Ok good, you’re paying attention.
That’s the point.
If you’re not paying attention and trapped in the hustle and bustle of a busy world (with a ton of useless stuff, by the way), this stuff will come up on you like a thief in the night.
Take stock of one thing, right now, that you need to shore up… is it food? Medical supplies? Water?
Focus on taking care of that as best you can by the end of this week.
Then, take care of the next thing.
GET MOVING ASAP.
Also, please share what you get from this newsletter.
It’s OK if you don’t understand it all.
Tell them to ask us.
Your future, and theirs, depend on it.
