"The average U.S. household owes more than $165,000 in debt, according to a new NerdWallet study.
That amount of average household debt has pushed the national total to $16.5 trillion, a 7.65 percent increase from a year before.
Study crafters also found that the credit card balances carried from month to month have gone up over the past year, now totaling roughly $460 billion.
Mortgages, auto loans, and overall debt also went up over the past 12 months, meanwhile, student loan amounts dropped a bit, according to the study.
The average U.S. household owed about $222,000 in mortgages, $17,000 in credit card debt as well as $29,000 in auto loans last year.
'Credit card debt is often thought to be the result of frivolous spending, but for many Americans, that’s just not true,” said Sara Rathner, a NerdWallet credit cards expert. 'Consumers are feeling the squeeze of higher prices and interest rates, and paychecks just aren’t keeping up. That’s forcing many to make tough decisions, like going into debt to pay for necessities.'”
"As the federal government advances its plans to create a central bank digital currency (CBDC), critics are sounding the alarm about how much power a digital dollar would place in the hands of federal agencies.
The latest step toward a CBDC, called 'Project Cedar,' was launched by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York last month as a 'wholesale' digital dollar for cross-border payments that is only available to banks and corporations. This effort, barely noticed amid the headlines surrounding the scandalous collapse of crypto-currency exchange FTX, follows Project Hamilton, a retail CBDC beta test conducted last February by the Boston Fed in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Digital Currency Initiative.
The Fed lauded the success of its latest digital dollar venture, stating: 'Project Cedar showed that blockchain-enabled cross-border payments can be faster, simultaneous, and safer.' But critics of the Fed’s CBDC initiatives were less enthusiastic.
'The launch of a CBDC would most likely be the single largest assault to financial privacy since the creation of the Bank Secrecy Act and the establishment of the third-party doctrine,' Nicholas Anthony, a policy analyst at the Cato Institute, told The Epoch Times. By contrast to the U.S. dollar in its current form—cash and bank deposits—a CBDC would be issued directly by the federal government, giving it potentially unlimited access to and control over Americans’ money."
"The chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday that the agency isn’t seeking to ban gas stoves but is instead looking for ways to make them safer, addressing concerns that the government could force households to switch to electric cooking.
'To be clear, I am not looking to ban gas stoves and the CPSC has no proceeding to do so,' said Chairman Alexander Hoehn-Saric.
The controversy sparked Monday, when Bloomberg News reported that the commission was considering such a ban due to indoor-air health concerns.
'This is a hidden hazard,' Mr. Trumka told Bloomberg. 'Any option is on the table. Products that can’t be made safe can be banned.'
Mr. Trumka’s comments drew fiery responses from Republicans and some centrist Democrats who cast the Biden administration as trying to ban a beloved way of cooking.
'This is a recipe for disaster,' tweeted Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, a centrist Democrat who represents a solidly Republican state and is up for reelection in 2024. 'I can tell you the last thing that would ever leave my house is the gas stove that we cook on.'
Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) tweeted that the Biden administration was 'going to extreme lengths to appease Green New Deal fanatics—they’re considering a national ban on gas stoves.'
'You can always count on Biden to GASLIGHT the American people,' Republican Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina tweeted with emojis of twinkling stars next to 'GASLIGHT'.”
“Breakdown Wednesday,” Ripped From The Headlines - Things To Ponder:
“Wait, That’s MORE EXPENSIVE TOO?!?!?!…”
That’s the number-one hit song in just about every American household today…
Household debt is up in this outstandingly bad climate, but the warning signs are even more concerning. Read this quote again:
“Credit card debt is often thought to be the result of frivolous spending, but for many Americans, that’s just not true,” said Sara Rathner, a NerdWallet credit cards expert.
“Consumers are feeling the squeeze of higher prices and interest rates, and paychecks just aren’t keeping up. That’s forcing many to make tough decisions, like going into debt to pay for necessities.”
These things generally don’t end well.
Minus the discussion on bonds/treasuries, we recommend watching this episode of The Rich Dad Radio Show with Robert Kiyosaki and Jim Rickards to get an understanding of what’s coming:
”I’m From The Government, And I’m Here To Help…”
Famous last words you should never, ever, believe, courtesy of President Ronald Reagan…
That’s the thing with #CBDC… to the suckers, it sounds really good…
But in reality, that seals off your last exit to freedom.
Our co-founders laid this out in great detail (along with solutions) recently on the Nick V Show:
It’s worth watching and then looking into Parallel Economy solutions like Sherloc EZ for Gold & Silver ASAP.
Your Future Depends On It.
“OK, We Won’t Be A Pain In The… Gas… Just Yet…”
Over the last few days, we’ve covered the threats to natural gas.
Now, the clean energy nazis “didn’t really mean it like that…”
To be clear, I am not looking to ban gas stoves and the CPSC has no proceeding to do so,' said Chairman Alexander Hoehn-Saric.
Sure buddy…
This is exactly why we have to remain vigilant on issues like this one… they will keep coming under the disguise of “helping people for the greater good,” when what they really want to do is force you into serfdom… but they keep getting to do the good stuff…
We HAVE to watch the watchers.
What Does This Mean?
It means you’re in a deadly game of musical chairs…
And you’re the patsy at the poker table…
Except in this game, you don’t lose just your pride or a few bucks…
You could be completely wiped out, and dependent on a system that has plans to “eliminate your pain…”
Kind of like they do in Canada…
You know what that means.
Why Should I Care?
Because this is going to be your future if you don’t do something about it:
You are going to save yourself.
You should care.
What should I do?
Study EVERYTHING you can find on parallel and alternative economies.
Prepare to implement it.
If you are blessed to have means, start thinking about what you, your family, and your community are going to need, and how commerce will happen in a super local economy.
