In March of 2022, David Zayas was driving down the Hutchinson River Parkway in Scarsdale. His car, a gray Chevrolet, was entirely unremarkable, as was its speed. But to the Westchester County Police Department, the car was cause for concern and Zayas a possible criminal; its powerful new AI tool had identified the vehicle’s behavior as suspicious.
Searching through a database of 1.6 billion license plate records collected over the last two years from locations across New York State, the AI determined that Zayas’ car was on a journey typical of a drug trafficker.
According to a Department of Justice prosecutor filing, it made nine trips from Massachusetts to different parts of New York between October 2020 and August 2021 following routes known to be used by narcotics pushers and for conspicuously short stays. So on March 10 last year, Westchester PD pulled him over and searched his car, finding 112 grams of crack cocaine, a semiautomatic pistol and $34,000 in cash inside, according to court documents. A year later, Zayas pleaded guilty to a drug trafficking charge.
The previously unreported case is a window into the evolution of AI-powered policing, and a harbinger of the constitutional issues that will inevitably accompany it. Typically, Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology is used to search for plates linked to specific crimes. But in this case it was used to examine the driving patterns of anyone passing one of Westchester County’s 480 cameras over a two-year period. Zayas’ lawyer Ben Gold contested the AI-gathered evidence against his client, decrying it as “dragnet surveillance.”
“The Commonwealth Bank has opened several ‘cashless’ branches where customers will not be able to access their money over-the-counter.
Cash transactions are unavailable at branches including Commonwealth Bank Place in the center of Sydney, South Eveleigh, Barangaroo, Penrith, and University of Sydney.
Other ‘specialist centers,’ located in Brisbane and Melbourne no longer permit over-the-counter cash withdrawals and deposits.
Deposits and withdrawals can still be made via on-site ATMs but not without a bank card.
More than five million adults, including those most vulnerable in our society, still rely on cash in the UK.
GB News is putting pressure on the Government to protect the status of cash as legal tender and as a widely accepted means of payment.
Last week, the Post Office backed the Don’t Kill Cash petition with Banking Director, Martin Kearsley telling GB News that recent flurries of bank branch closures have caused the Post Office to step up and take on the role of last bastion of local cash banking.
Kearsley said: “With 5,500 bank branch closures since 2015, 500 more this year, and many more to come - quite often the post office is the last counter in town.”
“Theft has become so bad in San Francisco that some stores are now padlocking shut their freezers and tying metal chains to ensure the doors remain closed overnight.
Video shot by one potential shopper at a local Walgreens in the city sees aisle after aisle of products locked away behind Perspex and glass, out of the reach of thieves.
Even lower value items such as toothpaste and tissues are kept under lock and key, such is the rampant theft that has been occurring in many of the city's pharmacies and supermarkets.
Another local branch of Walgreens in San Francisco is completely boarded up, although still open, and was recently the scene of a fatal confrontation between a homeless trans woman and a security guard.
Edward Liu, 49, a local resident and hospital worker told DailyMail.com: 'A lot of the stores are closing, a lot of hotels are shutting down. 'You don't get the numbers in downtown anymore because a lot of people are working from home.
'The homeless don't make people want to stay for sure – it's just not very appealing.
'They defecate, they urinate on the street. They do drugs on the street. The mayor isn't doing anything and it's been like this for a very long time.'“

“Big Brother Loves You Tuesday,” Ripped From The Headlines. Things To Ponder:
“You’re Minding Your Own Business? That Left Turn Looks Criminal!”
Just when you thought things couldn’t get any creepier…
The surveillance state in the US continues to grow.
You may have heard about AI license plate readers in the past, but this thing is on a different level.
It will match your travel habits against a database… and then profile you as a criminal.
A simple breakdown of why this is really bad:
You are a new manager at a store… to get to this store, you have to drive through some rough areas… there’s no other way to get there.
You do this generally at the same times and days…
Until there’s an emergency at the store… and you have to go in at 3 am one morning…
Guess what?
Your pattern matches someone who commits crimes!
That’s your future with this stuff… just like the movie Minority Report.
Know Your Foe.
“Still Think That’s Your Money? NO CASH FOR YOU!”
That’s the new reality in Australia these days…
To be clear, banks are businesses and can do as they please…
But where it gets weird is when they start limiting or restricting your access to cash that’s supposed to be yours…
And that’s part of the plan.
The real goal for governments and their handlers is to be able to track every single thing you do, so they can control it, regulate it, and tax it.
It’s not about your safety, the community, or anything like that…
It’s all about the money, Honey.
And you don’t get to have yours in the form of cash…
Because big brother said so.
If you’re in the US: Remember, this is already happening here… and it’s going to get worse.
Know Your Foe.
“Last Person Out, Please Turn Off The Lights… And Don’t Steal Anything, OK?”
Walgreens in San Francisco has resorted to chaining up freezers in stores to stop rampant theft…
How bad is it you ask? Here you go:
At one particular location, on 16th Street and Geary Blvd, the freezer doors are entirely chained up with staff concerned thieves will come into the store overnight to empty the contents.
Shop workers have already reported a problem with thieves coming in to the store as many as 20 times a day to fill their bags full of products including items that need to be kept at cool temperatures such as frozen pizza and ice cream.
Another location just completely boarded up the outside of the store…
Did you ever think that you’d see something like this in modern America?
Probably not… but remember, a fish rots from the head.
This is a reminder to keep a very close eye on who you choose to represent your interests, and what’s happening where you live…
If not, your city or town may be the next story like this.
Be A Watchmen.
You need to be prepared… there’s just too much crazy stuff happening.
We’ve found the 4Patriots solar generators to be light and easy to use. Plus, they are quiet and don’t require fuel.
You’re able to power key things like your fridge, freezer, coffee maker, and more.
What does this mean?
We’re moving quickly from what you say or do to what you think about saying or doing making you an enemy of the state.
This isn’t a left vs right statement.
You don’t know if WHAT YOU SAY OR DO NEXT will be the wrong thing.
Just like 1984.
