“A rural Michigan town voted to oust its entire local government Tuesday after the town board approved a Chinese-affiliated electric battery plant.
Residents of Green Charter Township, Michigan, strongly disapproved of their local township board’s decision to greenlight the construction of a Chinese-connected electric vehicle battery plant in their community.
A locksmith was even brought in Tuesday night to change the locks on the ousted officials’ former offices. The offices are now empty.
The project was expected to create more than 2,300 jobs as part of a $2.34 billion investment.
Despite the backlash from residents, the board moved forward with the Chinese-affiliated project.
‘My family members fought communism, and you’re bringing it right here,’ a local resident said last year.
When NewsNation visited the town in April, a resident named Corri Riebow who had no experience in politics said, ‘I don’t know (why they would approve it), other than somebody must be benefitting from it.’
Riebow then ran for clerk and won last night. ‘We just plan on making it as difficult as we possible for them to continue their process. They don’t even have a sight planned, they don’t have permits yet, so, we’re not their friend,’ Riebow said of how the new government is going to handle Gotion, the company behind the plant.
THINGS TO PONDER:
Not all money is good money… and the folks in Green Charter Township figured that out…
But then, they actually did the work that’s involved with GOVERNANCE (That’s you, keeping an eye on the people who represent you and keeping them accountable) AND they took action.
The representatives weren’t getting the job done, so they removed them.
Did you realize that you can do that?
If not, YOU CAN!
And THAT is how we solve problems…

“The Federal Communications Commission has enacted new rules intended to eliminate discrimination in access to internet services, a move which regulators are calling the first major U.S. digital civil rights policy.
The rules package, which the commission ratified on Wednesday, would empower the agency to review and investigate instances of discrimination by broadband providers to different communities based on income, race, ethnicity and other protected classes.
The order also provides a framework for the FCC to crack down a range of digital inequities including the disparities in the investment of services for different neighborhoods, as well as the “digital divide,” a term experts use to describe the complete lack of internet access many communities experience due to regional or socioeconomic inequality.
During Wednesday’s FCC hearing, Brendan Carr, one of the agency’s commissioners, argued that the new policies opened the agency up to potential litigation and would hamper operations by the telecommunications industry. “It’s not about discrimination. It’s about control,” said Carr, who said that the telecommunications industry had entered a “Faustian bargain” by supporting the bipartisan law and had previously called the framework a “power grab.”
“Ignoring disparate impact would have denied Congress’s directive to this agency. It is simply not plausible that we could prevent and eliminate digital discrimination by solely, solely addressing intentional discrimination,” said fellow commissioner Geoffrey Starks. “The rules we adopt here today are not the end of our work.”
The FCC is also poised to reimplement landmark net neutrality rules that were rescinded under the Trump administration. President Joe Biden has said the investments in the bipartisan infrastructure law are meant to connect every U.S. household to quality internet service by 2030 regardless of income or identity.

“Moody’s Investors Service on Friday lowered its ratings outlook on the United States’ government to negative from stable, pointing to rising risks to the nation’s fiscal strength.
The ratings agency has affirmed the long-term issuer and senior unsecured ratings of the U.S. at Aaa.
“In the context of higher interest rates, without effective fiscal policy measures to reduce government spending or increase revenues,’ the agency said. ‘Moody’s expects that the US’ fiscal deficits will remain very large, significantly weakening debt affordability.’
Brinkmanship in Washington has also been a contributing factor, Moody’s said.
‘Continued political polarization within US Congress raises the risk that successive governments will not be able to reach consensus on a fiscal plan to slow the decline in debt affordability,’ the ratings agency said.
As far as keeping the nation’s ratings at Aaa, Moody’s said that it expects the U.S. to ‘retain its exceptional economic strength.’ ‘Further positive growth surprises over the medium term could at least slow the deterioration in debt affordability,’ the agency said.
THINGS TO PONDER:
When you read the information above, didn’t it feel like Moody’s was trying really hard to find something… anything… good to say?
It’s tough to find these days…
Terrible fiscal management, largely by design, is catching up with the US… and the result is a lot of average American’s going broke…
And many of them are beginning to wake up to that fact.
