“A bipartisan group of 42 attorneys general is suing Meta, alleging that features on its Facebook and Instagram social media platforms are addictive and are aimed at kids and teens, the group announced Tuesday. The support from so many state attorneys general of different political backgrounds indicates a significant legal challenge to Meta’s business.
Meta is now facing multiple lawsuits on this issue in several districts. Attorneys general from 33 states filed a federal suit against Meta in the Northern District of California, while nine additional attorneys general are filing in their own states, according to a press release from New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office. Besides New York, the states that filed the federal suit include California, Colorado, Louisiana, Nebraska, South Carolina, Washington and Wisconsin.
The lawsuits are another demonstration of the bipartisan priority state law enforcers have placed on protecting kids and teens from online harm.
‘This is a tough time in America,’ Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti said at a press conference after the lawsuit was filed. ‘We have polarization the likes of which we have not seen since the Civil War. And so for all of the attorneys general from both parties, people who frequently disagree very vocally and very publicly, to all come together and to move in the same direction, I think that says something.’”
THINGS TO PONDER:
Looks like people have finally figured out who their foe is…
As huge fans of capitalism, we can tell you this is where “growth at all costs” and “hustle culture” ultimately end up…
With digital ghettos that push the narratives of those who pay them the most, or those of the WHITE HOUSE…
It’s nice to see people waking up, and Attorney Generals doing what they are actually supposed to do…
The question now becomes, will this end up in a “big fine” that Meta can easily pay, or will actual action be taken to stop the behavior?
Keep your eyes open.

“The Great Idaho movement takes one more step in the long process to potentially one day move the Idaho-Oregon border.
Leaders of the movement met with Oregon and Idaho legislators in Baker City on Thursday to discuss next steps. The Greater Idaho movement has won 12 out of the 12 eastern Oregon counties that have voted on the issue.
The Greater Idaho movement aims to move rural eastern Oregon counties into Idaho. Proponents say that the more rural parts of Oregon are not represented by Portland and Eugene.
In February of this year the Idaho House of Representatives passed a resolution stating they are ready to begin discussions with the Oregon Legislature over how to proceed with the issue.
While the movement has great support in eastern Oregon and even Idaho, there is a long way to go before any maps will be redrawn. The Idaho and Oregon legislatures first must enter formal discussions with the intention of leading to an actual timeline and the formation of a bill that would then be sent to Congress for ratification.
THINGS TO PONDER:
20 years ago, this would have been considered the rantings of an insane person….
Today, the greater Idaho and other breakaway state movements are beginning to be taken seriously, and making their way into statehouses.
Given the deep divides between large metro areas and more rural communities, people want representation of their voice that makes sense…
A big-city liberal isn’t necessarily going to be thinking about what’s best for the farmer in most situations.
As we stand on the cusp of more disagreement and conflict, you’ll want to keep an eye on these movements as we believe they will gain steam.

“Americans are falling behind on their auto loans at the highest rate in nearly three decades.
With interest rate hikes making newer loans more expensive, millions of car owners are struggling to afford their payments. It’s a clear indication of distress at a time when the economy is sending mixed signals, particularly about the health of consumer spending.
The percent of subprime auto borrowers at least 60 days past due on their loans rose to 6.11% in September, the highest in data going back to 1994, according to Fitch Ratings.
In April that figure slipped from a previous high of 5.93% in January. But after burning through tax returns, contending with a shakier job market and grappling with still-elevated inflation, more car owners have become delinquent.
Behind the surge is both higher car prices and borrowing costs. And with the Federal Reserve indicating it plans to keep rates higher for longer, the problem is likely to persist, especially as millions of Americans recently started paying their federal student loans again.
‘The subprime borrower is getting squeezed,’ said Margaret Rowe, senior director with the asset-backed securities group at Fitch. ‘They can often be a first line of where we start to see the negative effects of macroeconomic headwinds.’”
THINGS TO PONDER:
While this whole piece is important, take a really close look at that last paragraph again:
‘The subprime borrower is getting squeezed,’ said Margaret Rowe, senior director with the asset-backed securities group at Fitch. ‘They can often be a first line of where we start to see the negative effects of macroeconomic headwinds.’”
The “first line of where we state to see negative effects…”
Here’s what you’re not being told:
It’s not just subprime… EVERYONE who works for a living is struggling right now, maxing out credit cards, and deciding on food vs rent right now…
Inflation is actually over 50% from last year:
