“New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s emergency order suspending the right to carry firearms in public in and around Albuquerque drew an immediate court challenge from a gun-rights group Saturday, as legal scholars and advocates said they expected.
The National Association for Gun Rights and Foster Haines, a member who lives in Albuquerque, filed documents in U.S. District Court in New Mexico suing Lujan Grisham and seeking an immediate block to the implementation of her order.
The challenge was expected, but even so, the governor’s action Friday was an attempt to ‘move the debate,’ said Jessica Levinson, a law professor at Loyola Marymount’s Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, after Lujan Grisham announced that she was temporarily suspending the right to carry firearms in her state’s largest city and surrounding Bernalillo County.
The governor, a Democrat, said the 30-day suspension, enacted as an emergency public health measure, would apply in most public places, from city sidewalks to parks.
Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman, who once served as a Democratic party leader and was appointed by Lujan Grisham, on Saturday joined Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller and Police Chief Harold Medina saying they wouldn’t enforce the order.
‘As an officer of the court, I cannot and will not enforce something that is clearly unconstitutional,’ said Bregman, the top prosecutor in the Albuquerque area. ‘This office will continue to focus on criminals of any age that use guns in the commission of a crime.’”
THINGS TO PONDER:
Yes, this is insane… but the devil is in the details.
Look what’s actually happening here:
The challenge was expected, but even so, the governor’s action Friday was an attempt to ‘move the debate,’ said Jessica Levinson, a law professor at Loyola Marymount’s Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, after Lujan Grisham announced that she was temporarily suspending the right to carry firearms in her state’s largest city and surrounding Bernalillo County.
The Governor says she did this in response to gun violence involving young people…
So… the answer… according to the Governor of a US State… is to take away the right and ability of American citizens to police themselves, by stopping something like this, or even by stopping a mass casualty event.
Let that sink in…
You’re part of a thought experiment, designed to take away your ability & “want” to stop bad things from happening to you and your family…
“For safety.”

“Rural America is booming, but the population growth that’s boosting local economies is also putting a strain on everything from schools to housing and roads.
The influx — which started during the pandemic — has continued even as Covid restrictions have lifted. The latest government data released just last month points to a second year of increases in 2022 after years of declines.
The trend is sparking resentment as house prices in the top 10 rural counties that have seen the biggest population increases surging more than 40% over the past three years. Schools are overloaded and the shift is even impacting farmland prices.
‘There’s a lot of resentment,’ said Maggie Doherty, a writer and columnist who lives in Flathead County, Montana. ‘There’s bumper stickers that say ‘Montana’s full’ or ‘Don’t California my Montana.’
In some places, the influx of new residents is deepening political divides in an already polarized country. The migration has the potential to change voting patterns in both the places people are leaving and the ones they’re going to, adding an additional layer of unpredictability in battleground states like Georgia and North Carolina in the 2024 presidential election.”
THINGS TO PONDER:
The last paragraph is the most important.
Political and cultural divides are more pronounced than they’ve ever been…
When you mix classical values with modern garbage, you’re going to have issues…
Thus, you see the “Don’t California my Montana” and “Leave your politics where you came from!”
It’s an oddity to us that someone who is more liberal will go to another country and instantly try to pick up their language, customs, etc., but when they move from a more liberal state to a more conservative one, they are in total shock when their beliefs and lifestyles don’t match…
Then, the issues start…
“They just need to change the way they think!”
Wrong answer.
If you mess with the bull, you get the horns there, “thought changer.”

“The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit on Friday ruled that the Biden White House, top government health officials and the FBI likely violated the First Amendment by improperly influencing tech companies’ decisions to remove or suppress posts on the coronavirus and elections.
The decision, written unanimously by three judges nominated by Republican presidents, was likely to be seen as victory for conservatives who have long argued that social media platforms’ content moderation efforts restrict their free speech rights. But some advocates also said the ruling was an improvement over a temporary injunction U.S. District Judge Terry A. Doughty issued July 4.
David Greene, an attorney with the Electronic Frontier Foundation, said the new injunction was ‘a thousand times better’ than what Doughty, an appointee of former president Trump, had ordered originally.
The 5th Circuit panel also limited the government institutions affected by its ruling to the White House, the surgeon general’s office, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the FBI.
It removed restrictions Doughty had imposed on the departments of State, Homeland Security and Health and Human Services and on agencies including the U.S. Census Bureau, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. The 5th Circuit found that those agencies had not coerced the social media companies to moderate their sites.
The judges wrote that the White House likely ‘coerced the platforms to make their moderation decisions by way of intimidating messages and threats of adverse consequences.’ They also found the White House ‘significantly encouraged the platforms’ decisions by commandeering their decision-making processes, both in violation of the First Amendment.’”

This sounds like a win, right?
Hold your horses…

That looks like some of the folks who were likely also involved just got a free pass, doesn’t it?
This is why we talk about the devil in the details.
