“Inflation-squeezed Americans are defaulting on their credit cards and auto loans at levels not seen since the financial crisis – and the struggle to pay their bills is poised to get worse as interest rates rise and the moratorium on student loans expires.
Low- and middle-income earners have been especially hit hard by soaring prices on everything from rent, groceries, and new and used cars despite the Federal Reserve’s attempts to tamp down stubbornly-high inflation.
This year, credit card delinquencies have hit 3.8%, while 3.6% have defaulted on their car loans, according to credit agency Equifax.
Both figures are the highest in more than 10 years.
‘The increase in delinquencies and defaults is symptomatic of the tough decisions that these households are having to make right now — whether to pay their credit card bills, their rent or buy groceries,’ Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics, told the Washington Post.
THINGS TO PONDER:
The hits just keep on coming…
What we shared in the July 11th edition of Ripped From The Headlines describes this situation perfectly:
“…No, hand me the CHEAPER toilet paper!”
When an article starts like this:
Americans are cutting back on personal hygiene products in a troubling sign for the US economy and consumer-focused companies.
You know there’s a problem…
Ripped From the Headlines has been talking about where the economy really is for nearly a year, and Sherloc Market Research has been on the case for years…
You can put lipstick on the pig all you want…
It’s still a pig, period.
What you’re seeing when you read things like “people are skimping on hygene products and essentials,” you’re just about at the end of the economic road…
If you haven’t planned, or have been slacking on it, now is the time to get moving… you’re going to see more and more stories like this coming.
Quickly.

Scientists have grown an entity that closely resembles an early human embryo, without using sperm, eggs or a womb.
The Weizmann Institute team say their ‘embryo model,’ made using stem cells, looks like a textbook example of a real 14-day-old embryo.
It even released hormones that turned a pregnancy test positive in the lab.
The ambition for embryo models is to provide an ethical way of understanding the earliest moments of our lives.
The first weeks after a sperm fertilizes an egg is a period of dramatic change - from a collection of indistinct cells to something that eventually becomes recognizable on a baby scan.
This crucial time is a major source of miscarriage and birth defects but poorly understood.
‘It's a black box and that's not a cliche - our knowledge is very limited,’ Prof Jacob Hanna, from the Weizmann Institute of Science, tells me.
Embryo research is legally, ethically and technically fraught. But there is now a rapidly developing field mimicking natural embryo development.
This research, published in the journal Nature, is described by the Israeli team as the first "complete" embryo model for mimicking all the key structures that emerge in the early embryo.
‘This is really a textbook image of a human day-14 embryo,’ Prof Hanna says, which ‘hasn't been done before.’
THINGS TO PONDER:
What happens when these experiments create something that could ethically be considered human?
We ask because “the science” just doesn’t seem to know when to stop… trying to be God.
And, given the track record of “the science” with COVID, this is incredibly dangerous.
Just because you “mimic it” doesn’t mean that humans don’t get redefined…
And, there’s the bigger issue… if this was really about ethics, these folks would be working triple overtime to save the actual unborn.

“China’s public is expressing concern about a potential legal change that would allow for fines and even jail time for people who offend the government’s sensibilities by wearing the wrong clothing.
The Standing Committee of the nation’s legislature recently released a draft of revisions to the law it is considering that would forbid a range of behavior including dress or speech ‘detrimental to the spirit of the Chinese people and hurt the feelings of the Chinese people.’
The lawmakers didn’t spell out exactly what could get people sent to a detention center for up to 15 days or fined up to 5,000 yuan ($680). They have listed the law among their priorities for this year.
The draft law highlights how Chinese leader Xi Jinping has clamped down on civil liberties in the nation of some 1.4 billion people over his decade in power, including by stepping up internet censorship. Police in Suzhou, a city near Shanghai, detained a woman last year for wearing a kimono in public.
Many people on Chinese social media expressed concern the proposed changes to the law may be going too far. One user of the Weibo social media site who goes by the handle Nalan lang yueyueyue asked how authorities would know when the nation’s feelings would be hurt.
‘Shouldn’t the spirit of Chinese nation be strong and resilient?’ the person asked. ‘Why can it be easily damaged by a costume?’
THINGS TO PONDER:
“Oh, that’s happening in China… not here!”
This is a common response that we get from people in situations like this one…
They forget that the US government has not only been caught conducting mass surveillance on its own citizens, but that same government has been caught being the thought police.
So, if you just gloss over this story from China, you’re missing a sneak preview of what’s coming your way. It looks like this:

What does this mean?
Things aren’t going to end well if you don’t take action.
But, here’s what’s different this time… multiple people are saying that exact same thing from a number of different angles, and in different places.
One of the things we often say is to watch what successful people do, & do what they do, AND then watch what unsuccessful people do, and don’t do what they do…
Most of them are already out of the line of fire for social unrest or economic collapse…
How do you think they see things ending up?
Why should I care?
When was the last time you checked on your “go-to’s”:
*Your go-to investment?
*Your go-to safety net?
*Your go-to emergency plan?
If it’s been a while, here’s some bad news: They probably might not work anymore.
That means you’re behind in planning for rough times.
You should care.
What should I do?
Take a moment… right now if you can… to take inventory of what you’re seeing in this newsletter each day.
Have you ever seen a time quite like this?
Ok good, you’re paying attention. That’s the point.
If you’re not paying attention and trapped in the hustle and bustle of a busy world (with a ton of useless stuff, by the way), this stuff will come up on you like a thief in the night.
You need to take the time to prepare as best you can for a time when good supplies, strong communities, and strong connections are the difference between surviving and thriving or being in bad shape.
