“The Department of Energy approved new rules for light bulbs last year that will take effect on August 1, including a new minimum standard for light bulbs at 45 lumens—or brightness—per watt, an increase over the average 12 to 18 lumens per watt for incandescent bulbs.
Retailers will be prohibited from selling any bulbs—including incandescent bulbs—that don’t match the new standard, though households using any existing bulb that does not meet the standard will not be required to stop using them.
The decision was meant to conserve energy and ‘help consumers save on their energy bills,’ as more energy-efficient bulbs—like LEDs—use at least 75% less energy and last up to 25 times longer than incandescent bulbs, according to the department.
An effort to phase out less efficient bulbs was initiated by former President George W. Bush, whose Energy Independence and Security Act in 2007 called for household light bulbs to have “about 25% greater efficiency,” though it did not outright ban incandescent bulbs, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
Former President Barack Obama added two new regulations to the act in 2017, which would have effectively phased out incandescent bulbs and other specialty bulbs, like candle-shaped bulbs used in chandeliers, by January 2020, according to the EPA.
THINGS TO PONDER:
This isn’t a Republic/Democrat or “Left/Right” thing…
It’s a totalitarian creep thing.
So… in an effort to help you “conserve energy and save on your energy bills,” the US government is going to do the hard work on making your decision for you…
“For your own good…”
And now, getting a good old-fashioned incandescent light bulb is a crime.
Oh, and about those “wonderful LEDs…”

“A collective cry is breaking out as authors, artists, and internet publishers realize that the generative AI phenomenon sweeping the globe is built partly on the back of their work.
The emerging awareness has set up a war between the forces behind the inputs and the outputs of these new artificial intelligence tools, over whether and how content originators should be compensated. The disputes threaten to throw sand into the gears of the AI boom just as it seems poised to revolutionize the global economy.
Artificial intelligence companies including OpenAI, its backer Microsoft, and Google built generative-AI systems such as ChatGPT by scraping oceans of information from the internet and feeding it into training algorithms that teach the systems to imitate human speech. The companies generally say their data use without compensation is permitted, but they have left the door open to discussing the issue with content creators.
Earlier in July, thousands of authors including Margaret Atwood and James Patterson signed an open letter demanding that top AI companies obtain permission and pay writers for the use of their works to train generative AI models. Comedian Sarah Silverman and other authors also filed lawsuits against OpenAI and Facebook-parent Meta Platforms for allegedly training their AI models on illegal copies of their books that were captured and left on the internet.
News publishers have called the unlicensed use of their content a copyright violation.
THINGS TO PONDER:
Be careful where you put things… AI might just find them.
And re-work them to make money off of your stuff…
Looks like ChatGPT and other similar programs are pretty nifty grifters.
And now, writers, creators, and even news publishers are figuring that out…
But it may be too little, too late…
Earlier this month, we shared that Google has been pitching its Genesis AI as a solution to write articles… because it already has everything it needs.
Here was the takeaway from leaders at news organizations when they saw the Genesis platform:
Some executives who saw Google’s pitch described it as unsettling, asking not to be identified discussing a confidential matter. Two people said it seemed to take for granted the effort that went into producing accurate and artful news stories.

“The digital currency of the People's Bank of China (CBDC) has taken a further step in its implementation by being linked to the digital identification of citizens. This allows a sophisticated surveillance system to instantly collect the corresponding fine from the digital wallet of the vehicle owner in case of detecting speeding.
The People's Bank of China has been working on the development of digital currency for several years, and currently, it is being tested and used in different cities of the country. The idea behind CBDC is to create a central government-backed form of digital money, which works as a secure and efficient means of payment.
With the integration of digital identification, the CBDC enables faster and more secure transactions. In addition, by being linked to surveillance systems, such as traffic cameras and road sensors, the government can detect traffic violations, such as speeding, and apply sanctions immediately.
This system has generated some controversy among Chinese citizens, as some argue that it represents an intrusion into privacy and a form of government control. However, authorities argue that CBDC and its link to digital identification and surveillance are necessary measures to improve road safety and reduce traffic offenses.”

Once again, you’re seeing your future in the US and around the world, RIGHT NOW.
We’ve discussed China’s totalitarian surveillance state in previous editions of Ripped From The Headlines, and we thought this would be a good time to review.
Here’s what your future will look like if you don’t step up and fight:

Know Your Foe.
You need to be prepared… there’s just too much crazy stuff happening.
We’ve found the 4Patriots solar generators to be light and easy to use. Plus, they are quiet and don’t require fuel.
You’re able to power key things like your fridge, freezer, coffee maker, and more.
What does this mean?
Things aren’t going to end well if you don’t take action.
But, here’s what’s different this time… multiple people are saying that exact same thing from a number of different angles, and in different places.
One of the things we often say is to watch what successful people do, & do what they do, AND then watch what unsuccessful people do, and don’t do what they do…
Most of them are already out of the line of fire for social unrest or economic collapse…
How do you think they see things ending up?
Why should I care?
When was the last time you checked on your “go-to’s”:
*Your go-to investment?
*Your go-to safety net?
*Your go-to emergency plan?
If it’s been a while, here’s some bad news: They probably might not work anymore.
That means you’re behind in planning for rough times.
You should care.
What should I do?
Take a moment… right now if you can… to take inventory of what you’re seeing in this newsletter each day.
Have you ever seen a time quite like this?
Ok good, you’re paying attention. That’s the point.
If you’re not paying attention and trapped in the hustle and bustle of a busy world (with a ton of useless stuff, by the way), this stuff will come up on you like a thief in the night.
You need to take the time to prepare as best you can for a time when good supplies, strong communities, and strong connections are the difference between surviving and thriving or being in bad shape.
GET MOVING ASAP.
