‘CBDCs can replace cash which is costly to distribute in island economies,’ she said Wednesday at the Singapore FinTech Festival. ‘They can offer resilience in more advanced economies. And they can improve financial inclusion where few hold bank accounts.’
CBDCs are the digital form of a country’s fiat currency, which are regulated by the country’s central bank. They are powered by blockchain technology, allowing central banks to channel government payments directly to households.
‘CBDCs would offer a safe and low-cost alternative [to cash]. They would also offer a bridge to go between private monies and a yardstick to measure their value, just like cash today which we can withdraw from our banks,’ the IMF chief said.
The IMF has said that more than 100 countries are exploring CBDCs – or approximately 60% of countries in the world.
‘The level of global interest in CBDCs is unprecedented. Several central banks have already launched pilots or even issued a CBDC,’ the IMF said in a September report.”

“The New York Supreme Court on Nov. 17 dismissed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the isolation and quarantine procedures the state established during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying the Republican lawmakers and the advocacy group that brought the case lacked standing to sue.
The suit was originally filed in April 2022 against Gov. Kathy Hochul and her administration by a coalition of Uniting NYS and three Republicans: state Sen. George Borrello, Assemblyman Chris Tague, and Assemblyman Michael Lawler, who is now a member of the U.S. Congress.
The coalition challenges what’s known as Rule 2.13, a set of regulations that gives state and local health authorities the power to place New Yorkers merely suspected of having an infectious disease such as COVID under mandatory isolation or quarantine.
Under the February 2022 rule, ‘whenever appropriate to control the spread of a highly contagious communicable disease, the State Commissioner of Health may issue and/or may direct the local health authority to issue isolation and/or quarantine orders, consistent with due process of law, to all such persons as the State Commissioner of Health shall determine appropriate.’
The isolation locations, according to Rule 2.13, may include one’s own home, a general hospital, or ‘other residential or temporary housing,’ subject to what the health agency issuing the order deems ‘appropriate.’ The rule also allows the health agency to, ‘whenever appropriate, coordinate with local law enforcement to ensure that such person comply with the order.’
‘Rule 2.13 is a red flag that underscores the lingering authoritarian approach to governing, which is a holdover from the pandemic,’ Mr. Borrello said in a statement, arguing that those regulations, made through a rule-making process as opposed to a legislative process, violated the principles of separation of powers enshrined in the New York State Constitution.”

At a press conference ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, Hochul announced that she was ordering the director of Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services to develop "media literacy tools" for K-12 in public schools to teach students and teachers to "understand how to spot conspiracies, theories and misinformation, disinformation and online hate."
"Give the teachers the tools they need to help these conversations in school," the governor said. "And by teaching younger New Yorkers about how to discern between digital fact and digital fiction, we can better inoculate them from hatred and the spread of it and help prepare them for a very fast-moving and often confusing world."
Whatever is going to be thrown at us next requires us to be easily controlled and quarantined “for safety,” and “media literacy tools…”
You can tell who your enemy actually is by what they say AND what they do.
“United Airlines is considering using its passenger information to help brands serve targeted ads to its customers, joining a growing number of companies trying to tap their troves of user data for advertising purposes.
Some of these targeted ads could appear on its in-flight entertainment system or on the app that people use to book tickets and check in, people familiar with the matter said. United hasn’t made a decision yet and may choose not to launch a targeted advertising business, some of the people said.
Airlines have long taken advantage of the captive nature of their customer base to show them plenty of ads, including commercials on seatback screens, glossy spreads inside in-flight shopping catalogs or, for some, advertisements adorning cabin walls. Offering personalized advertising would greatly expand United’s advertising business, some of the people said.
More companies for which advertising isn’t a core business have recently started putting their customer data to work to sell personalized ads. These efforts come as recent tech restrictions have made targeted advertising more complicated—giving an edge to companies that know a lot about their customers such as Walmart, Uber Technologies, Instacart and Home Depot.
U.S. marketers are expected to spend $46.4 billion on so-called ‘retail media’ advertising—ads sold based on data from a retailer that doesn’t traditionally sell ads but has customer data from their core business—this year, according to research firm Insider Intelligence. Non-retail companies with customer data are also jumping on the bandwagon.”
